Dig Deeper

We all want solutions to the problems we are facing. Sometimes, we are not even aware of what we are searching for. Yet we keep looking outside, hoping that we will find the answers in the videos we watch, the people we talk to, or the situations we come across.
In this process, we forget that we already hold within us a great deal of wisdom and understanding. We keep looking outward, but rarely pause to look within.
There was once a beggar who begged every day to make a living. Some days, people would give him something; on other days, he would return empty-handed.
Over time, he began to believe he was incapable of anything else. Begging, he told himself, was the only way to survive. His self-confidence was so shattered that he could not even imagine going out and looking for a job.
He lived this way for many years. Every day, he slept in the same place and sat in the same spot to beg.
One night, he had a dream. In the dream, he received a message:
"There is a treasure buried beneath the place where you sit."
When he woke up the next morning, he decided to listen to his dream. He dug beneath the place where he usually sat and, to his surprise, found a small box filled with gold.
He was overjoyed.
But something had not changed.
Even though he now had money, he still did not know what to do with his life. His old beliefs ran deep. After a while, he returned to the same spot and started begging again.
That night, he had another dream.
This time, the message was:
"Dig deeper."
The next morning, he returned and dug further. This time, he found something unexpected — a mirror.
He looked into it and suddenly understood.
Perhaps the dream was not only telling him about the treasure buried beneath him. It was pointing him toward another treasure — the one he had been carrying within himself all along.
The gold gave him money, but the mirror gave him awareness.
For the first time, he began to look within.
He started observing his thoughts, his beliefs, his fears, and the way he had been seeing himself. Slowly, he began to understand himself better. With every insight, something within him began to change.
He started seeing possibilities he had never seen before.
He used the money he had found to try something new. He began with a small food stall. Slowly, the business grew. Within a few years, he became the owner of a successful restaurant.
He became far more successful than he had ever imagined possible.
Looking back, he wondered how many years he had spent digging in the wrong direction — searching outside for what had been sitting beneath him all along.
The gold had changed what he owned.
The mirror had changed who he was.
What are you still searching for outside — that may already be waiting within you?
